WHO WE ARE:
SOCIAL ORGANIZATION FOR LITERACY AND AGRICULTURAL IMPROVEMENT (SOLAI TRUST) is a registered non-profit making voluntary social service organization established in 1999. SOLAI is registered under Tamil Nadu Government Society Registration Act and also registered under Income Tax Department of our Government. (Applied for FCRA Number to Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India). SOLAI TRUST is the result of the decision of a group of educated youths of Tamil Nadu to devote their lives to fighting for the oppressions of the poorest, most disadvantaged section of the society. This group was motivated by the necessary to fight against the Child Labour, social economic oppression alleviating the health problem, political exploitations, experienced by the community of the people and of course with a special reference to Children, Youth, Women and Agricultural Labourers. TARGET GROUP SOLAI TRUST Society is working among 1250 Children and 3200 of women (including Youth and Agricultural labourers) of slums and very remote villages of Tiruchirapalli, Karur and Sivagangai Districts. The planning of the projects are done with the support of Women Tutors, Youth and group of Women Leaders on a participatory basis DEVELOPMENT GOAL Educate the Children and Empowering the economic, political and social status of Dalit and Backward community women and there by establishing their self-dignity and self-reliance with gender equality. VISION We are in a society where some sections of people are discriminated based on caste, religion, language and gender. They are discriminated in socio-economic political and cultural spheres. Solai Trust believes and envisages a Just Society where all the people enjoy their rights as human beings as described by the constitution of India and United Nations Charters. MISSION Solai Trust believes and takes sides with the sections of people such as dalits, women, children, agricultural laborers and other marginalised and vulnerable section who are socially, economically politically and culturally marginalized. Solai Trust believes in educating and organizing these sections of people into a moving force in order that they gain their bargaining power and establish their rights. Solai Trust mobilize people’s power to fight against poverty and injustice and creation of a effective society. These moving forces will align and network with like-minted networks and forums, individuals, academicians and institutions to work towards realizing the vision. SOLAI TRUST IN THE CIVIL SOCIETY The Chief Functionary of Solai Trust is just 38 years old but with 14 years experience in social action still young, energetic and capable to coupe up with the requirements of emerging trends in terms of knowledge and capacity. Solai Society as an organization strengthens the hands of the Children, Youth, Women and Agricultural Labourers in Tiruchirapalli, Karur and Sivagangai Disticts. Solai Trust is definitely recognized as a pressure group by the local bodies and in the block and district administration. Solai Trust plays a vital role in the grass root level administration and its strong voices influence the policies of the districts and state government. Providing access to education for children and increasing enrollment of children in schools and change perspective of community towards education of children. Through Training programme we are developing youth skill to get better job opportunities. The economic stability of the women, the influencing power of the women, cultural changes of the women, the active participation in the political structures by the women, the increased self esteem and social status of the women are models to replicate in the family, settlements, villages panchayat, block, taluk, and district and in the state. | ||||||||||||||
